BOI: Yocum vs Mario and Meagan Gomes
The Board of Inquiry received a complaint on November 17, 2020 sent by certified mail by Secretary Jill Lyden. The complaint was filed by Ms. Patty Yocum against Mr. Mario Gomes and Ms. Meagan Gomes. The charge was that the Gomes’ had neglected Ms. Yocum’s two dogs while they were in their care during a board and train program. The BOI consisted of Ms. Dana Miller, Ms. Natalia Balabanov, and Mr. Monty Ellison. The BOI sustained the charges against the Gomes’, found that they had neglected the two dogs, and recommended disciplinary action, that report being received by the Executive Board on February 7, 2021. The Executive Board discussed the findings and recommendations and voted, with a majority vote completed on March 10, 2021, to uphold the recommendations of the Board of Inquiry as follows. The Executive Board voted again on the range of recommended discipline suggested by the BOI and concluded the following, that vote completed on March 28, 2021.
· A 5-year ban from holding any AWMA board or committee seats.
· A 5-year ban from participating in any capacity at the AWMA National IGP Championship.
· A 5-year ban from the AWMA FMBB Team.
· A 5-year ban from participating at any AWMA Regional Championships.
· A 5-year ban from voting in all AWMA elections.
The discipline applies to both Mr. Mario Gomes and Ms. Meagan Gomes and will take effect 3/28/2021
· A 5-year ban from holding any AWMA board or committee seats.
