The
Guidelines for Handlers
- All competitors are representatives of the AWMA
and should strive to conduct themselves in an exemplary
manner both on and off the field.
- Any competitor who conducts him or herself in an
unsportsmanlike manner, or engages in any other actions
that are contrary to the best interests of the AWMA
may be subject to disciplinary action.
- Disciplinary actions shall be taken up by a grievance
committee that shall convene at the AWMA Nationals
as needed.
- Competitors are responsible for their dog’s
behavior during the entire
event, both on and off the competition field. They
should not leave their dogs loose and unattended in
the hotels. If not
confined to their vehicles
or crates, dogs should be on lead and under direct
control of their handlers at all times. Handlers
should clean up after their dogs at the hotels and
at the competition areas.
- Handlers should respect the
restrictions that the host
club places on practice locations
and times. This includes
being knowledgeable as to the
location of practice tracking
and ensuring that no tracking
takes place at the trial fields. Handlers
should sign up for and effectively
utilize slots for practice
on the obedience and protection
field.
- Handlers are responsible
for having available at the
event all required paperwork/documentation
for themselves and their dogs.
