Last night at club training USA Judge Bill Szentmiklosi was singing the praises of two young ladies he had the privilege of judging over the weekend. Bill is not an easy man to impress, and when he returns from judging assignments he rarely, if ever, speaks of the competitors' performances. Yet last night was very different. He said from start to finish their trial decorum was exemplary, from the way they reported in to the handling of their tracking lines, and the professionalism with which they presented themselves throughout all the trial procedure was above and beyond what he normally observes. He said he wished he had a video recorder to capture their performances so everyone could see just how handling a dog in a trial should be done.

Hats off to Lily and Rosellen Westerhoff!

Thanks for posting, Donna. The trial was at my club up here in Montana, and not to take ANYTHING away from Lily, who can give a handling clinic to any club, the two young ladies he got to judge were Coral Westerhoff and our newest entrant, Rachel Fessenden. Rachel handled her GSD Tango for a TR1. Coral got her SchH 3 on Venus, who she has trained from puppyhood. I'm not exactly sure, but both of these young ladies are 11, or within a year of that.

I know that their parents Rosellen & Bruce Westerhoff (Lily & Coral) and Sue Geske (Rachel) are proud of their daughters' achievements -- Donna, thanks for letting us all know.

I was unfortunately not there to see the trial but on Sunday I got a play by play from Coral :-) Here is a webpage I put up of photos of Coral and Venus getting their I three years ago.

They are an amazing team and Coral has done all the handling/training on this dog. I believe she told me that she and Venus garnered a 96 in tracking on the III. I wish I was half the trainer of the Westerhoff girls. In fact, they put the tracking foundation on two of my dogs since I couldn't seem to do it right ;-)

Those going to Nationals will be able to see Lily in action handling her Nike. They are another great team. I look forward to seeing Racheal out there in the future as well. It is refreshing to see young people out there doing the sport.

Mike, I hope you have a wonderful time. Good luck to everyone, and pay attention to the Westerhoff ladies. I'm sure Lily will show everyone how it should be done!
